Performing Arts

Performing Arts is an integral component of a'Kihoro SPIRITUAL CREATIONS.

The mission is to provide an environment for honing the performance skills of members of the ministry.  “It’s the hard work of practice…that leads to success.”

The Concept...

Sketches, monologues, reader’s theater, mime, poetry, puppetry, and two to three act plays from various sources, as well as those developed by the ministry are presented on a small stage in a public (rehearsal) mode (limited props, basic costumes or normal clothing, acoustic and/or recorded music, etc.)  This offers the opportunity to view productions while still in their development process, as well as critiquing by the ministry’s production team.

Senses Stage Café follows the "His Company Christian Drama" method of teaching, rehearsing and presentation of spiritual themes created by David Lampel. The mission focuses on monologues, sketches, one and multi-act plays with the Bible as the message resource developed for faith-based organizations and presented by a Christian theatre ensemble.

"His Company Christian Drama" - emphasis on 'His' - is a philosophy titled "A Calling to the Stage." The teaching method does not rely on professional training in acting or theatre. It recognizes that church theatre is not usually peopled by professionals, but by dedicated amateurs willing to stand before people because of their love of the Lord. The motivation is not fame or the hope of adulation and wealth, but a personal devotion to God which relies on discipline, commitment and love.

This ministry needs you if you are an adult with heightened sensory perception and the ability to effective interpret written material. Some knowledge of Old and New Testament Biblical writing is preferred, but not required.

As this ministry works to develop an ensemble and a repertoire of materials, organizations will be able to contract with the ministry for performances at venues.

Christian Drama Ministry

Mainly, drama (a dramatic work intended for performance by actors on a stage) is one of those “cultural cues” the church needs to read and take advantage of in reaching people.

“How can we do a better job in reaching people, both the churched and the un-churched, in a creative fashion, without compromising the gospel?”

The answer...Biblical Storytelling through various dramatic methods.

For too long the church has relied on preachers and robed choirs to reach people. Given the changes that have taken place in our culture, those two strategies won't work as well as they did in previous generations.
